Pope Francis to make Apostolic Journey to Hungary in April

In a statement from Director of the Holy See Press Office, Matteo Bruni announced on Monday 27 February, “Accepting the invitation of the civil and ecclesial Authorities, His Holiness Pope Francis will make an Apostolic Journey to Hungary from 28 to 30 April 2023, visiting the city of Budapest.”  The papal visit will mark Pope Francis’ 41st Apostolic Journey abroad.

In a statement by Bishop András Veres, President of the Hungarian Catholic Bishops’ Conference, Bishop András commented, “The Pope’s apostolic journey is a very important event not only for Catholics, but for all Hungarians, both within and beyond our borders.  Due to the age of the Holy Father, the meetings will take place in Budapest, and we cordially invite and welcome everyone from Hungary and the surrounding countries, especially to the Holy Mass on Sunday.  Let us prepare to meet the Holy Father with a prayerful spirit and bear witness to the fact that Christ is our future.”
