Ecumenical Bible Week programme launched for 2021

Ecumenical Bible Week (EBW) returns in 2021 for its eight year. It will take place from  Pentecost Sunday (23 May) to Trinity Sunday (30 May) and will focus on the theme: Unlocking Faith Today: Responding to New Realities.

Ecumenical Bible Week is led by the Archdiocese of Dublin and the United Dioceses of Dublin and Glendalough in collaboration with many other Christian traditions ranging from the Evangelical Alliance to Lutherans, Methodists, Presbyterians and with support from the National Bible Society and Scripture Union.

This year’s EBW will have an opening and closing prayer event organised by Holy Trinity Rathmines on Monday 24 May and St Finian’s Lutheran Church on Sunday 30 May respectively.

A new event this year will be a Young Adult Forum on the theme: The Once and Future Church – Where to from here?  The discussion with the young adult panel will take place on Wednesday 26 May online from 5pm -7pm.

On the afternoon of Thursday 27 May, EBW will host a Theological Symposium on the theme: Post-pandemic: A Vision for a Better World. Have you stopped to think what life will be like post-pandemic? The symposium will be chaired by Pat Coyle and will feature Sam McConkey, Austin Ivereigh & Deanna Thomson who will explore what life might be like for faith communities after the Covid-19 crisis.

The popular Thinking Allowed panel discussion will take place on the evening of Thursday 27 May and will feature Faith leaders discussing the topic: What is your personal dream of faith into the future? This year’s panel will Archbishop Dermot Farrell, Archbishop Michael Jackson, Sr Liz Murphy, Rev Sahr Yambasu,  Rabbi Charles Middleburgh and Rev Lorraine Kennedy Ritchie. The panel will be chaired by Rev Alan Boal.
