It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Canon Michael Crowley. He was Parish Priest of Ballinlough from 2000 until 2009. Canon Michael had also been a Curate in Ballinlough from 1962 to 1966. He was a native of the parish of Aghabullogue and was ordained in 1956. He ministered in England, Schull, St Mary’s of the Isle Chaplain, Douglas, Ballinlough, The Cork and Ross diocesan mission in Peru, Cathedral/Blackpool, before been appointed as Parish Priest of Ballinlough in 2000. On his retirement in 2009 he continued to live in Ballinlough until ill health caused him to move to Mount Desert Care Village in spring 2020. He will be remembered as an outstanding pastor who cared for his people with selfless devotion. His dedication to his priestly tasks was outstanding with regular visits to the primary schools, care for the sick, and concern for the bereaved being some of the constant aspects of his ministry in Ballinlough. Our prayer is that he will receive the embrace of the Good Shepherd whose flock he cared for with unstinting devotion.
