Archbishops of Armagh share video reflection for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity

The Catholic and Church of Ireland Archbishops of Armagh, Archbishop Eamon Martin and Archbishop John McDowell, have published a video reflection to mark the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity which begins today.

The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity takes place from 18 -25 January each year. The theme chosen for 2022 is ‘We Saw His Star in the East’. Materials for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity have been prepared by the churches of the Middle East.

In their reflection the archbishops speak about the importance of Christian Unity as people across the world gather to reflect together. The archbishops ask that we would keep the people of the churches in the Middle East in our prayers during the coming week.

They go on to reflect on how we have become more conscious of the persecution of Christians in various parts of the world and how the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity offers us all an opportunity to be together in prayer, in unity and in friendship
