Archbishop Eamon Martin, Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of All Ireland is encouraging the faithful to be part of the annual Global Rosary Relay for priests, will take place around the world, on Friday 11 June, the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Rosary Relay at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, Armagh
Archbishop Martin will lead the Rosary Relay from Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, Armagh. Speaking ahead of tomorrow’s event, Archbishop Martin said, “The annual Rosary Relay for priests is an opportunity for families and parishes to be part of encircling the world in prayer at this time, including the intentions of all priests and of our Holy Father, Pope Francis. I look forward to welcoming the world to Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, Armagh at 8.30am on Friday 11 June when we will contribute to the prayer relay by offering the Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary.”
Rosary Relay around the World
This will be its twelfth year, involving more prayer locations than ever, having grown from 24 single prayer locations in June 2003 its first year to 2,600 in 2020.
From seventeen prayer locations in Ireland the Rosary Relay will travel around the globe, beginning at the Shrine of Our Lady at Magadan in Siberia on to China, Asia and on to the United States, then on to Peru, from France to Australia, from Africa to the Far East and from Honduras to Iceland, involving large numbers of people praying in this real time relay.
Each of the participating prayer location countries prays a particular mystery of the Rosary at a specific allocated time on the day in thanksgiving to God for priests and to implore the protection and loving care of Our Lady, Mother of all priests, for all her priestly sons.
This prayer event, which is organised by World Priest, will take people from their busy lives as they unite in prayer – both in person and virtually. Prayers will be offered at designated prayer locations, including basilicas, cathedrals and churches, as well as with families in their homes. The closing Rosary Relay prayer time for this year will be prayed at Thomas Aquinas College in Santa Paula, California, USA. By midnight on 11 June 2021, the entire world will by then have been encircled in prayer for another Worldpriest Annual Rosary Relay Day.

Prayer for Pope Francis
The Global Rosary Relay for priests will also feature a special time of prayer for Pope Francis and his intentions. This time of prayer may be accessed via Zoom at 6.00pm local time in Rome (5pm local time to Ireland). It will be led by Father Willy Raymond C.S.C. President of Holy Cross Family Ministries, along with board members of the Worldpriest Global Apostolate.
